A-1074, legislation that prohibits teens 16 and under from tanning indoors, was signed by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.  The law goes into effect 30 days after it is signed, which will be August 15, 2012.  Under the new law, teens age seventeen will still be allow to suntan, with a signed parental consent form still being required.    

 

Due to New York State Law & Total Tan policy:

  • All clients will be required to sign a consent form every 12 months.

  • All clients between the ages of 17 and 18 will be required to have a consent form signed by a parent or guardian, in the presence of a Total Tan employee, every 12 months.
    (Parent or guardian must be present. Notes from parent or guardian will not be accepted)

  • All clients will be required to show a valid photo ID verifying their identity and date of birth at EACH visit.

  • All clients will be required to show FDA approved eyewear at EACH visit.

  • No person (after August 15, 2012) under the age of 17 may tan in UV tanning units.

  • Clients 15,16, and 17 may use our UV-Free Mystic Tan unit. (Parent or guardian must be present.)
